Nick, my brother. Always part of my life, although distant, really from the time of his going to Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith, then on to Cambridge in 1970, where I visited him many many time with our parents, Dmitri and Phyllis. Then on to Newcastle and working in the North East and eventually ending up in Canada married to Diane, for 7 years, having set up CAMRA Canada, in the late 70's mid 80's. I was away in East Africa some of that time so it was even harder to keep in touch. He arrived back in the UK in the mid 80's and re-took up his life here. Some little anecdotes such as when on the day of Churchills funeral in about '62 he decided to put a model train with a Union Jack on my circular track and it ran round all day. Somewhere in the archives we have cine footage of Nick doing something vaguely sporting riding a 26 inch bike around our large garden in Ealing. Later after his arriving back from Canada, we had many beer supping evenings in his favourite Fullers locals such as The Castle in Ealing and the Brewery Tap in Brentford, drinking Courage Directors at the Doves in Hammersmith and his achieving the complete Fullers passport. Another memory was having a very beery weekend at the Great British Beer festival in Brighton with my old mate Wojtek, I have no memory where we stayed and driving home on the Sunday very merry. Nick had a gregarious and full - on life having lived in Brentford and Brighton and many many moves later arriving up in the Cotswolds, where he indulged his passion of beer and food and history and archaeology. He will be missed by many.
