I was a long-standing friend and colleague of Nick’s. He helped me way back in 2010 with some Food & Drink Festivals I was organising on behalf of the Fairford & Lechlade Business Club. He subsequently became an active member of the Business Club, but stood down a couple of years ago. We kept in touch and often enjoyed a business lunch together or a drink on the banks of the Thames at the Trout Inn. Shortly after Christmas, when other colleagues approached me to say they had not heard from Nick for quite some time, I took a drive with my husband over to Lechlade (about 4 miles from where I live) and went to Nick’s house. Whilst looking through the windows, a neighbour came up and asked what we were doing! Quite rightly. You can’t be too careful these days. When she was satisfied we were not thieves and vagabonds, she kindly explained that Nick had been taken into hospital. Since then I have kept in touch with another of Nick’s colleagues for updates. I was extremely saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Nick, for whom I had the greatest respect.
